RLab is the nation’s first city-funded center for research, entrepreneurship and education in virtual and augmented reality and related technologies. NYCEDC and the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment selected NYU Tandon School of Engineering as the administering institution and a consortium of participating universities. The new multi-university center is critical to the City’s plans to establish New York City as the next global leader in immersive technologies and will create hundreds of new jobs in the field.

VISION

With 16,500 square feet of co-working space, classrooms, studios and more in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the RLab hosts a variety of programs and events – from classes and trainings, to startup accelerators, corporate innovation tours, and much more. When building the design assets for this start-up, it was crucial to be able to appeal to the multiple levels of industry the RLab was working with, while staying consist to a core branding, and working within the design parameters requested by NYU Tandon School of Engineering.

Brand Guidelines

The RLab brand guidelines project had multiple requirements to take into consideration.  It was important to find a way to keep the brand looking new and innovative, while using color to differentiate between the different sectors of the company. In addition, NYU Tandon School of Engineering wanted to highlight their affiliation with the RLab by incorporating the NYU Violet into RLab's brand guidelines.

The final guidelines consist of 5 colors, each color has been chosen to intentionally compliment another within the palette. Primarily using #5097C6 for all things corporate membership, #57068C for classes, education, and NYU related activities, #00AD95 for events and the RLab Accelerator program, and #F26C4D for the RLab Bootcamp program.

Corporate Membership Brochure

For companies, RLab offers a way to tap into one of the City’s most valuable assetsβ€”a diverse ecosystem of entrepreneurs, faculty, students, researchers, creatives and tech professionals. RLab’s corporate members participate in innovation programs to identify use cases, prototype new solutions, collaborate on research and thought leadership, and commercialize emerging technologies.

The design of this brochure is clean and simple, allowing the information to speak for itself, but still incorporating linear shapes and hard lines which are consistent with other branded elements of RLab. By using the blue to highlight the membership pricing tiers, the investors eye is easily guided to the section of the brochure that is of interest to them, without overshadowing the rest of the information.

Thumbnails

These thumbnails were created for each class that the RLab hosted. The thumbnail image were to be displayed across the website, social media graphics, & certificates of completion. Each image was individually designed by myself to visually articulate, in an abstract way, the subject matter of the class.
